Terms of Use

The agreement between you and Midos when you use the app, including the terms of the Midos Pro subscription.

These Terms of Use are the agreement between you and Individual Entrepreneur Akhan Iskak ("we", "us") about your use of the Midos app. Please read them. If you do not agree with them, do not use the app.

1. Agreement and acknowledgement

By downloading, installing or using Midos, you accept these Terms.

This agreement is concluded between you and Individual Entrepreneur Akhan Iskak only, and not with Apple. Individual Entrepreneur Akhan Iskak, not Apple, is solely responsible for Midos and its content. These Terms do not create usage rules for Midos that conflict with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

If you use Midos on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these Terms for that organisation.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age at which you can agree to a contract of this kind where you live, whichever is higher. You must also have an Apple Account in good standing and comply with the App Store's own terms.

Midos is a tool for managing your own money. It is not designed for, or directed to, children.

3. Your licence to use Midos

We grant you a non-transferable licence to use Midos on any Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules set out in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions — except that Midos may also be accessed and used by other accounts associated with the purchaser through Family Sharing, volume purchasing or Legacy Contacts.

This licence is personal to you. You may not:

  • transfer, redistribute, sublicense, rent, lease or sell Midos, or make it available over a network where it could be used by several devices at the same time;
  • copy Midos except as this licence and the Usage Rules permit;
  • reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, attempt to derive the source code of, modify or create derivative works of Midos or any update — except where, and only to the extent that, applicable law prohibits that restriction, or the licence terms of an open-source component included in Midos permit it;
  • remove or obscure any proprietary notice.

We reserve all rights not expressly granted here.

4. What Midos is — and what it is not

Please read this section carefully. It matters for how you use the app.

Midos is a personal bookkeeping tool. It records numbers you give it and shows you arithmetic, charts and trends based on them.

Midos is not financial, tax, investment, accounting or legal advice. Nothing the app shows you — a budget suggestion, a savings projection, a category breakdown, a "you saved this much" figure — is a professional recommendation, and none of it is tailored to your circumstances. If you need advice, consult a qualified professional. Decisions you make on the basis of what Midos displays are yours alone.

Midos is not a bank and does not move money. It has no connection to your bank, holds no funds, initiates no payments or transfers, and issues no financial instrument. A "transfer" inside Midos is a bookkeeping entry between two accounts you defined yourself; no money changes hands. Midos is not a payment service, an e-money institution or a financial institution of any kind, and it is not supervised as one.

AI results are drafts and can be wrong. Voice entry and receipt scanning use an automated model to guess amounts, dates, merchants and categories. The model misreads handwriting, mishears words, confuses currencies, misplaces decimal points and invents categories. Every result is shown to you as an editable draft, and you are responsible for reviewing it before you save it. We do not warrant that any AI output is accurate, complete or fit for any purpose, and we are not liable for entries you save without checking them.

Exchange rates are indicative. Currency conversion in Midos uses third-party reference rates snapshotted when a transaction is saved. They are not the rate your bank or card issuer will apply.

Midos is not a backup service of record. Sync is a convenience, not a guarantee. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose — the app can export your data to CSV or JSON at any time.

5. Your account

Signing in is optional. You need an account only for cloud sync and for the AI features.

Sign-in is through Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for the security of the Apple Account you use and for everything done through your Midos account. Tell us at akhanizkak@gmail.com if you think someone else has access to it.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Danger zone → Delete account. What that removes, and what it does not, is described in the Privacy Policy. Note in particular that deleting your Midos account does not cancel your Apple subscription — see section 6.

6. Midos Pro subscription

Midos is free to use. Midos Pro is an optional auto-renewable subscription that raises or removes the limits on the AI features and unlocks Pro features as they are described on the subscription screen in the app at the time you buy.

Plans. Pro is offered as a weekly, a monthly and an annual subscription. The exact title, length and price of each plan — and the price per unit where relevant — are shown on the subscription screen in the app before you buy, in your local currency, together with any introductory offer.

Free trials. Where a plan is offered with a free trial, the trial length is stated on the subscription screen. A free trial converts into a paid subscription automatically at the end of the trial period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. If you buy a subscription while a trial is running, the unused part of the trial is forfeited.

Billing is by Apple. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Individual Entrepreneur Akhan Iskak never sees or handles your payment details.

Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the price shown for the plan you chose, unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.

Managing and cancelling. You manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple Account subscription settings (on iOS: Settings → your name → Subscriptions), not in Midos. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the subscription stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for. Deleting the Midos app, or deleting your Midos account, does not cancel the subscription — you must cancel it with Apple.

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Individual Entrepreneur Akhan Iskak cannot issue, process or promise a refund for an App Store purchase, and we cannot see your payment. Refund requests go to Apple through https://reportaproblem.apple.com, and Apple decides them under its own terms. Nothing here limits any statutory right of withdrawal or refund you have as a consumer.

Price changes. If we change the price of a plan, Apple will notify you and, where required, ask for your consent before the new price applies to a renewal. If you do not accept it, you can cancel before the renewal.

Restoring purchases. If you reinstall the app or move to a new device, use Restore purchases on the subscription screen.

7. Free tier, quotas and fair use

The free tier includes a monthly allowance of AI requests (voice entries and receipt scans). Midos Pro replaces that with substantially higher daily and monthly limits. The current numbers are shown in the app; we may adjust them, and we will not reduce them for an active paid period in a way that defeats what you paid for.

The limits exist because every AI request costs us money. They are not an invitation to work around them. You agree not to script, automate or otherwise generate AI requests other than through normal use of the app, and not to share one account across several people to multiply the allowance. If usage is abusive or clearly automated, we may throttle or suspend the AI features on that account, and — for serious or repeated abuse — the account itself.

8. Acceptable use

Use Midos for your own record-keeping, lawfully. Do not:

  • use it for any unlawful purpose, or to record or facilitate criminal activity;
  • upload receipts or dictate content that you have no right to submit, or that contains someone else's personal data you are not entitled to share;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to our servers, other users' data, or any system connected to Midos;
  • probe, scan, overload or interfere with the service, or circumvent rate limits, quotas or entitlement checks;
  • use the AI features to try to extract, reverse-engineer or manipulate the underlying model or our prompts;
  • resell, white-label or commercially exploit Midos or its output without our written permission.

9. Intellectual property

Midos — the app, its source code, its design, its name, its logo and everything else we made — belongs to Individual Entrepreneur Akhan Iskak and its licensors, and is protected by copyright and other laws. These Terms give you a licence to use it, nothing more.

Your data is yours. The transactions, notes, receipts and settings you put into Midos remain yours. You grant us only the limited licence needed to run the service for you: to store, transmit, process and display your data so the app works, including sending it to the processors listed in the Privacy Policy. We do not use your financial data to train AI models, and we do not sell it.

Feedback you send us is welcome, and we may use it without obligation or payment.

10. Privacy

How we handle your data is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. In summary: the app works offline with no account; signing in enables sync and the AI features; the AI features send data to OpenAI only after you give explicit in-app permission, which you can withdraw; receipt images are not stored by us; and we do not advertise, track you across other companies' apps, or sell your personal information.

11. Third-party services and third-party terms

Midos relies on services operated by others — Apple, Supabase, OpenAI, RevenueCat, Sentry and PostHog among them. Their availability and behaviour are outside our control, and we are not responsible for them.

You must comply with any applicable third-party terms of agreement when using Midos. For example, your use of the app over a mobile network must not put you in breach of your wireless data service agreement, and your use of Sign in with Apple and the App Store is subject to Apple's own terms.

12. Maintenance and support

Individual Entrepreneur Akhan Iskak is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support for Midos, to the extent we offer it or applicable law requires it. Support is by email at akhanizkak@gmail.com; we aim to reply within a few working days.

You and we acknowledge that Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance and support services for Midos.

13. Availability, changes and termination

We do our best to keep Midos running, but we do not promise it will be available without interruption. We may modify, suspend or discontinue features, and we may change these Terms. For material changes we will give reasonable notice in the app or on this page; continuing to use Midos after a change takes effect means you accept it. If you do not accept a change, stop using the app and, if you have a subscription, cancel it with Apple.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms — in particular section 8 — or if we are required to by law. Where the circumstances allow it, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.

You may stop using Midos at any time by deleting the app. Deleting the app does not delete your server-side data (use the in-app deletion) and does not cancel your subscription (cancel it with Apple).

Your licence under these Terms ends automatically if you fail to comply with them. Sections 4, 9, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 survive termination.

14. Warranty and disclaimer

Individual Entrepreneur Akhan Iskak is solely responsible for any product warranties, express or implied by law, to the extent they are not effectively disclaimed here.

To the maximum extent permitted by the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Midos is provided "as is" and "as available", with all faults and without warranty of any kind. We disclaim all warranties and conditions, express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranty of merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, quiet enjoyment or non-infringement of third-party rights. We do not warrant that Midos will be uninterrupted or error-free, that defects will be corrected, that your data will never be lost, or that any AI output will be accurate.

In the event of any failure of Midos to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to Midos, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to any warranty will be the sole responsibility of Individual Entrepreneur Akhan Iskak.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties or limits on a consumer's statutory rights. Where that is the case, the exclusions above apply only to the extent the law allows, and your mandatory statutory rights are unaffected.

15. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Individual Entrepreneur Akhan Iskak is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, loss of revenue, loss of business, loss of goodwill or loss or corruption of data, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, Midos — however caused and regardless of the theory of liability, and even if we were advised such damages were possible.

To the extent permitted by that law, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to Midos is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for Midos in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 50.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited — including the statutory rights of consumers, which these Terms do not affect.

16. Product claims

You and we acknowledge that Individual Entrepreneur Akhan Iskak, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim by you or any third party relating to Midos or your possession and use of it, including but not limited to: (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that Midos fails to conform to an applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (iii) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation.

These Terms do not limit our liability to you beyond what applicable law permits.

17. Intellectual property claims

You and we acknowledge that, in the event of a third-party claim that Midos, or your possession and use of it, infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, Individual Entrepreneur Akhan Iskak, not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.

18. Legal compliance and export

You represent and warrant that (i) you are not located in a region that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" region; and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

You also agree to comply with all applicable export control and sanctions laws when using Midos.

19. Apple as third-party beneficiary

You and we acknowledge and agree that Apple, and Apple's subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and that, upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.

20. Governing law and disputes

These Terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of Midos, are governed by the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The courts of the Republic of Kazakhstan have jurisdiction, and you and we submit to them.

If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you habitually reside, and you may also bring proceedings in the courts of that country. Consumers in the EU may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.

Before starting formal proceedings, please write to akhanizkak@gmail.com. Most problems are faster to fix by email than in court.

21. General

Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Midos, and replace anything said or written before.

Severability. If a court finds any part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest stays in force.

No waiver. If we do not enforce a right, that is not a waiver of it.

Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, on notice to you.

Language. These Terms are written in English. A translation is provided for convenience; if the versions conflict, the English version governs.
